Typically, sessions will last for around 50 minutes to one hour. However, they can be longer or shorter if you so choose. Also, a councillor will give you a clear plan for when you should return for more discussion. This often takes place once per week for six weeks, and then the discussion can had about continuing. The decision, though, is entirely your own.

Typically, though, we recommend going to see a therapist from a registered body like the UKCP or BACP. This will help to give you even more belief that they are empathetic and here to help.
What kind of therapy can I actually receive?
Many forms of therapy exist today, and trying to work out which form you would enjoy the most can be tough. The most common forms include:
• Art therapy.
• Cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy.
• Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).
Can therapy actually help me?
Counselling in London does work, absolutely, but it is not for everyone. The main thing that you can do is to plan to go for a session and see how it impacts on you personally.
